The ceremony at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex was to welcome back home Issa Hayatou since October 8th when he took up office in Zurich as the FIFA President.
The special welcome ceremony gave an opportunity for football lovers and great names in the football domain in the country to mount the podium and laud Issa Hayatou for making Africa proud.
During the red carpet reception, one of Cameroons football experts, Tantoh Stephen mounted the podium with his face all smiley to salute Cameroonian born Issa Hayatou and his achievements in football.
His arrival was marked by thousands of applauds from the five cabinet ministers, top personalities, hundreds of football lover, friends and family.
Former Indomitable Lions, Roger Mila and Vitorine Fomo a onetime Indomitable Lionesses Coach amongst others shared their joy with the FIFA President.
FECAFOOT President, Tombi a Roko Sidiki on his part recounted the many realisations of the Cameroonian Issa Hayatou, noting that he has made Africans proud as he holds a post as the first African since its creation, 111 years ago.
The red carpet event was materialised by a gift from the state of Cameroon, handed to Issa Hayatou by Cameroonian Queen of the Mountain, Sarah Etongue.
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education Bidoung Mkpwatt read the closing speech at the ceremony calling the number football personality in the world, the pride of his country.
He cautioned Issa Hayatou to remain a good ambassador for ethics in football at time, FIFA has been plagued with corruption cases
